Friends of WHEELS
Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School (WHEELS) opened its doors in September 2006, as a new school in District 6, one of the highest-need populations in New York City. At WHEELS, all of our students receive free or reduced lunch and 90 percent will be the first in their family to go to college.
Friends of WHEELS was founded in 2012 to make college graduation a reality. Since 2012, 78 percent of WHEELS graduates have enrolled in college, which is a substantial 22 percent higher than the NYC average.
